United Way of Bay County | AFL CIO and Emergency Service
November 10, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pmFREE
The United Way of Bay County has a unique resource through our Community Services, Emergency Fund. I’ll discuss how this is utilized to meet needs for those that might not qualify for other types of assistance (until designated funds run out). This will include a description of the “211” Information Referral Hotline and what it can and can’t do. The United Way of Bay County works with local pantries to help stock their shelves at critical times during the year, as well as utilizing volunteers to take daily food requests through the “211” hotline. I’ll discuss what we do and how others can get involved. The United Way of Bay County in coordination with the United Way of Saginaw has three-hour informational classes one day per month from February through June. These classes cover current topics within the Great Lakes Bay Region. The sessions are free, and in the past have discussed such subjects as how to improve a person’s credit score, human trafficking in our area, the opioid crises, and assistance resources.
