and others, if they’re available!

Amy Freeman (Iris Waste Diversion Specialists, Inc.)
Terry Miller (Lone Tree Council)
City Manager, Dana Muscott will open the festivities by introducing us to Sarah Archer, a member of the fantastic team over at Iris Waste Diversion Specialists, Inc. (Bay City’s recycling contractor). Sarah will be here to explain and answer questions about our impressive curbside recycling program. Come learn more about how this remarkable resource adds value to the community and how your household can best take advantage of it!
Next up, we’ll have visits from a number of Bay City’s elected officials. Mayor Kathi Newsham will be on hand to tell us about the annual events held here in celebration of Earth Day, and the city’s long-standing commitment toward sustainable practices. Following her remarks, we’ll hear from some of our great City Commissioners. It will be a lunch hour (or more) filled with optimistic news about current efforts and the direction our local leaders see us headed.
From 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM be prepared to enjoy some dirty talk with Amy Freeman! Amy will also be joining us from Iris Waste Diversion Specialists, Inc. where she fulfills her duties as the reigning Queen of Compost. Whether you’re a seasoned compost veteran or an absolute newbie, you’ll want to be at City Market to learn the organic ins-and-outs of turning kitchen waste into garden gold.
Our final presentation will come from Terry Miller, co-founder and Chairman of the Lone Tree Council. Terry will bring us an overview of local issues that are the current focus of this important Bay City-based environmentalist group. He’ll also be offering suggestions about practical, relatable and empowering ways you can help make a difference.
A few details are still being finalized, so stay tuned. As always, we’ll see you at the market!
